CHEP Manchester
CHEP have been working with Noble Green Energy to reduce carbon usage and cut electricity costs at their Manchester site.
Following on from the successful Solar installation at CHEP’s Pontefract site – Noble Green Energy were commissioned to install a system at CHEP’s Manchester site.
The factory and office roof now house 822 Canadian Solar 435W panels that make up the 357kWp system.
The 3 inverters deliver a usable peak power of 275kW, satisfying 20% of the site’s annual electricity demand.
Solar PV energy production is expected to be around 338,000 kWh per year, saving 169 tonnes of carbon. This is equivalent to 60,000 HGV road miles or planting 7,600 trees.
All the energy generated is consumed on site. Energy produced is monitored in real time against the incoming electricity supply so the benefit can be directly measured. This offers the opportunity to review working practices and maybe consider implementing further efficiencies as the business evolves.
With the current energy price rates, the return on investment is expected to be less than 4 years.
