The steel sheet roof was the ideal location for 1,262 solar panels that make up the 517 kWp system. The four 10 kW inverters deliver a usable peak power of 440kW, satisfying 40% of the site’s annual electricity demand.

Solar PV energy production is expected to be around 450,000 kWh per year, saving 205 tonnes of carbon. This is the equivalent of 80,000 HGV road miles or planting 10,000 trees.

The east and west-facing arrays extend the production period into the morning and evening, producing a more consistent yield throughout the working day compared to a south-facing system.

A longer solar production day increases the likelihood that the generated solar power can be consumed on site rather than being exported to the grid.

Energy produced is monitored in real time against the incoming electricity supply so the benefit can be directly measured. This offers the opportunity to review working practices and maybe consider implementing further efficiencies as the business evolves.
