Let us guide you through securing the best energy contracts to maximise your savings and returns
At Noble Green Energy, we are dedicated to helping you harness the power of the sun efficiently and economically.
In partnership with L&C Utility, we offer comprehensive energy import and export contracting services to ensure you get the most out of your solar investment.

Why securing the best energy contracts matters
Investing in a solar installation is a significant step towards sustainability and energy independence. However, the true potential of your solar investment can only be realised with the right energy contracts. Here’s why it’s crucial:
-
Maximise Financial Benefits – Proper contracts enhance your savings by minimising import costs and maximising export revenues.
-
Balancing of Consumption & Generation – Making sure your supply agreements are fit for purpose, and account for the nuance of a business generating and exporting electricity.
-
Stabilise Energy Costs – Locking in favourable rates protects you against volatile market prices.
-
Improve Energy Efficiency – Optimal contracts ensure you efficiently use or sell the energy you produce, reducing waste.
-
Support Grid Stability – Well-managed export contracts contribute to the stability and efficiency of the energy grid.
Understanding Energy Import & Export Contracts
Navigating energy contracts can be complex, but Noble Green Energy, in partnership with L&C Utility, is here to simplify it for you.
There are a number of different types of energy contracts available:
Import Energy Contracts
Fixed Price Contracts:
Pay a set price for the energy you import from the grid, offering predictability and protection from price spikes.
Flexible Supply Contracts:
Allows your energy purchasing to be spread across multiple transactions and periods, offering greater flexibility and control over longer-term supply frameworks.
Fixed ‘Pass-Through’ Contracts:
Pay a set price for the wholesale energy you import from the grid, and the prevailing rate for non-energy charges e.g. transmission, distribution, and government levies. Ideal if you can shift consumption to off-peak hours where the non-energy rates are lower.
Export Energy Contracts
Fixed Price Export Contracts:
Guarantees a fixed rate for the power you generate and export, so you know exactly how much your business will be paid.
Fixed ‘Pass-Through’ Export Contracts:
This option pays you a fixed price for every KWh of electricity you export, while also granting you a share of Embedded Benefits. The value of the Embedded Benefits will vary depending on your site’s distribution region and technology type.
Flexible Export Contracts:
Allows you to trade your export power at separate times, to take advantage of changes in prices on the wholesale market.
System Sell Price Contract:
An agreement which pays you the prevailing half-hourly rate for every kWh of electricity that your business sells to the grid. You will receive variable payments depending on when you can – or choose to – export your power.
Net Metering:
Schemes and tariffs which credit you for excess energy produced, which can offset future energy usage.
Aligning contracts with solar generation
To maximise your solar investment, it’s essential to choose contracts that align with your energy production and consumption patterns.
Here’s how these contracts can affect and be affected by your solar installation:
- Solar Generation Peaks: During peak sunlight hours, your system may generate more energy than you consume. Export contracts ensure you receive fair compensation for this surplus you generate and send to grid.
- Energy Consumption Patterns: Your grid energy use may become more varied and unpredictable, resulting from increased generation or changes in business processes. Having the right Import contract is key to limiting any punitive charges from your suppliers, as well as allowing you to benefit from any stored solar energy or cheaper off-peak times of use.
- Seasonal Variations: Solar generation varies seasonally. Flexible contracts that adjust to these changes can provide better financial outcomes.
