Blenkiron Farming Co. installs a398.4 kWp ground-mounted SolarEdge expansion for existing Solar PV, and site-wide infrastructure, at Lark Hall Farm.
With over 200 kW of solar generation already in place and successfully contributing to the site’s energy demands, we were engaged to help safeguard and enable future expansion by taking the site’s renewable energy provision to the next level.
The site was already operating close to the maximum capacity of its existing grid connection. With plans to increase farm production, it was therefore imperative that this growth be achieved without increasing the site’s reliance on carbon-dependent grid power.

A future-ready electrical infrastructure capable of supporting battery energy storage and additional renewable technologies.
Implementation & Installation
The SolarEdge® system was configured in an East/West orientation, allowing greater inverter oversizing while reducing peak export and improving alignment with on-site demand. This approach also creates a sheltered environment beneath the array with the opportunity to maintain agricultural productivity with sheep grazing if required.
To support the increased electrical demand and future expansion, the site’s grid connection was upgraded with a new 11kV substation and LV switchroom. This infrastructure enhancement removed previous capacity constraints and significantly improved the site’s ability to accommodate additional technologies.
Existing third-party generation assets were fully integrated into the new monitoring and control framework, providing a single point of visibility for all generation sources and site consumption. This consolidated approach improves operational insight, compliance, and long-term energy management.
“…By combining solar PV with strategic grid infrastructure upgrades, this project delivers both immediate energy benefits and long-term operational flexibility. The client can now view the benefit of both new and existing generation assets, alongside diagnostics and site consumption data, through a single platform. This enhanced visibility supports informed decision-making and enables more effective optimisation of daily energy use. With increased capacity and unified energy management, the site is now well positioned to expand its renewable energy portfolio while maintaining efficient, resilient, and sustainable operations….”
